Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure commented the attack left him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
